FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

1. Are NIATEC programmes online or physical?

All NIATEC programmes are fully physical and conducted on-site for intensive practical workshop exposure, except RDC-related programmes which may contain remote or flexible learning components where applicable.

2. What time do classes begin?

Students are required to arrive before 9:00 AM daily.

Students arriving late without prior approval may not be granted access into the classroom or workshop for the day.

3. What should I do if I may be late or absent?

Any lateness or absence on a non-regular basis must be reported through the student task portal not less than one hour before class begins.

Failure to properly report lateness or absence may affect attendance records and classroom access.

4. Is attendance compulsory?

Yes. NIATEC operates a strict attendance policy.

Students must maintain a minimum of 80% attendance throughout the programme. Students below the required attendance threshold may not qualify for certification.

5. What is the student task page?

Each student is assigned a personal task page used for:

  • Daily classroom reports
  • Workshop activities
  • Assignments
  • Homework submissions
  • Research documentation
  • Attendance monitoring

Students are required to update their task page daily.

6. What happens if I fail to update my task page or submit assignments?

Students who fail to complete daily tasks, assignments, or homework may not be permitted into the classroom or workshop the following day until all outstanding work has been completed.

Outstanding assignments continue to accumulate during absence from class.

7. Can students with incomplete assignments take tests?

No.

Students without up-to-date assignments and completed task records will NOT be allowed to:

  • Attend classes
  • Access the workshop
  • Undertake outstanding tests
  • Participate in scheduled assessments

All outstanding tasks, assignments, and tests must first be completed.

8. What happens if I miss a test?

Missing a class or test does not cancel the responsibility for the work covered during that period.

For example:
If a student misses class on Friday and is not prepared for a scheduled test, the student must first update all tasks and assignments before being allowed to sit for the test.

The missed test, alongside any new tests or assignments, must still be completed before progression continues.

9. Can I defer my programme?

Yes. Students may defer their programme under approved circumstances.

However, deferment cannot exceed one academic session ahead.

Students are advised to properly communicate with administration before any deferment process.

10. Why is NIATEC strict about assignments, attendance, and tests?

NIATEC believes that FOUNDATION IS THE STRONGEST PART OF A BUILDING.

Technical education is progressive in nature. Missing classes, workshop practice, or foundational lessons creates serious learning gaps that become increasingly difficult to recover from.

Students are strongly advised to remain consistent with:

  • Attendance
  • Assignments
  • Workshop participation
  • Daily task submissions
  • Tests and assessments

In many cases, once a student falls significantly behind, catching up within a short period may become extremely difficult..

NIATEC STUDENT TERMS, CONDITIONS & ACADEMIC POLICY

NIATEC INSTITUTE

Nitro Institute of Automotive, Technical & Entrepreneurial Certification

At NIATEC, discipline, consistency, practical exposure, technical competence, and professional development are considered essential parts of the training process.

All students admitted into NIATEC programmes are expected to carefully read, understand, and comply with the rules, regulations, academic structure, attendance requirements, and operational standards guiding the institution. These policies are designed to maintain high technical standards and prepare students for real-world industrial and professional environments.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE & DURATION

NIATEC programmes are structured as follows:

  • Professional Automotive Foundation Certificate (PAFC) — 6 Months
  • Auto Technician International Standard (ATIS) — 12 Months
  • Advanced Vehicle & Energy Technology (AVETS) — 18 Months
  • Diploma in Automotive Business & General Enterprise Management (DABGEM) — 12 Months

Programme duration may include:

  • Classroom lectures
  • Practical workshop training
  • Technical projects
  • Industrial exposure
  • Assessments and evaluations
  • Workshop simulations and industrial attachment where applicable

MODE OF STUDY

Except for RDC-related programmes where applicable, all NIATEC programmes are fully physical and conducted on-site at NIATEC facilities and workshops.

Students are expected to participate actively in:

  • Classroom sessions
  • Workshop practicals
  • Assignments
  • Research activities
  • Technical projects
  • Tests and evaluations

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants are expected to:

  • Possess basic English language proficiency
  • Be physically and mentally fit for technical training
  • Complete NIATEC application procedures and approval processes
  • Provide required guarantor information where applicable
  • Demonstrate willingness to comply with school standards and discipline requirements

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Attendance is compulsory and strictly monitored.

Students are expected to maintain a minimum attendance level of 80% throughout the programme. Students who fail to meet the minimum attendance requirement may not qualify for certification or graduation.

Students whose attendance falls significantly below acceptable standards may be required to repeat portions of the programme before certification can be processed.

NIATEC operates a strict punctuality policy:

  • Students must arrive before 9:00 AM daily
  • Late arrival without prior approval may result in denial of access into the classroom or workshop for the day
  • Habitual lateness is considered misconduct and may attract disciplinary measures

Students who may be late on a non-regular basis must report such through their task portal not less than one hour before the commencement of class.

DAILY TASK PORTAL & ASSIGNMENT POLICY

Every student is assigned an individual task portal/page used for:

  • Daily classroom reports
  • Workshop practical documentation
  • Assignments and homework
  • Research submissions
  • Technical observations and learning reports
  • Attendance monitoring

Students are required to update their task page DAILY.

Failure to complete and update daily tasks, assignments, homework, or workshop documentation may result in:

  • Denial of access into class the following day
  • Denial of access into workshop sessions
  • Suspension from tests and assessments until outstanding work is completed

Outstanding tasks and assignments continue to accumulate during absence from class.

Students are fully responsible for catching up on all missed:

  • Notes
  • Practical sessions
  • Assignments
  • Tests
  • Workshop activities

TESTS, EXAMINATIONS & ASSESSMENTS

Students without up-to-date assignments and completed task submissions will NOT be allowed to:

  • Attend classes
  • Access workshop practicals
  • Undertake tests or examinations
  • Participate in assessments

For example:
If a student misses class on Friday and is not prepared for a scheduled test, the student must first ensure all outstanding tasks, assignments, reports, and practical submissions are updated before being permitted to undertake the test.

Missed tests do not cancel academic responsibility. All missed:

  • Tests
  • Assignments
  • Practicals
  • Evaluations

must still be completed alongside ongoing academic activities.

NIATEC strongly believes that:

“FOUNDATION IS THE STRONGEST PART OF A BUILDING.”

Technical education is progressive in nature. Missing foundational classes creates knowledge gaps that become increasingly difficult to recover from as the programme advances.

Students are strongly advised to remain consistent academically because in many cases, once a student falls significantly behind, catching up within a short period may become extremely difficult or almost impossible.

CLASSROOM & WORKSHOP CONDUCT

Students are expected to:

  • Respect facilitators, coordinators, and fellow students
  • Follow all workshop and classroom instructions promptly
  • Maintain discipline and professionalism at all times
  • Avoid rude remarks, confrontation, or disruptive behavior
  • Keep classrooms and workshop environments clean and organized
  • Observe all workshop safety procedures and PPE requirements

Under no condition should students:

  • Operate equipment without authorization
  • Drive customer vehicles without permission
  • Use phones during practical sessions
  • Damage school properties or workshop equipment
  • Relate directly with customers without authorization

DRESS CODE & SAFETY

Students are expected to dress professionally and safely during training sessions.

Requirements include:

  • NIATEC approved shirts where applicable
  • Blue or black long-sleeve coveralls for workshop practicals
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) during practical sessions
  • Proper hygiene and professional appearance at all times

Failure to comply with workshop safety and dress code requirements may attract disciplinary action or suspension from practical sessions.

DEFERMENT POLICY

Students may defer their programme under approved circumstances.

However:

  • Deferment cannot exceed one academic session ahead
  • Proper communication and approval from administration is required
  • Multiple deferments without valid approval may affect continuation status

INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATION PATHWAY

NIATEC students may subscribe to additional international certification pathways designed to improve global employability opportunities and professional recognition.

Advantages include:

  • Internationally recognized vocational certification
  • Exposure to internationally aligned technical standards
  • Improved opportunities for employment abroad
  • Enhanced professional credibility and career progression
  • Better positioning for migration and overseas opportunities
  • Additional competency verification and professional assessment

International certification pathways may involve additional registration and assessment costs depending on the selected programme or certification body.
